Opensolr Photos

Your photos, in your storage. Found in a second.

Opensolr Photos keeps your photos, clips and PDFs in storage you own, an S3 bucket or a WebDAV folder, and finds any of them by what is in them. On every phone of your account, and here on the web.

What it does

Like the photo app you know. Except the storage is yours.

Search by meaning

Type what you remember: a receipt, the dog at the beach, a name. Text in photos and PDFs is read too.

Backed up where you choose

Originals or 1080p copies go to your own bucket or server. The keys are sealed in your account, never shown again.

One library on every phone

A new photo on one phone shows on the others. Delete it once and it is gone everywhere.

Clips and PDFs too

Clips play, every page of a PDF is searchable, and the files come back to a new phone as they were.

A map and your numbers

Every photo with a place on the map, and your library counted by year, people, places and cameras.

Open source

The Android app is on GitHub, every line of it. Your index is an Opensolr Index you can query yourself.

How it works

1. Create an accountA free Opensolr account. Your Photos index is made for you the first time you sign in on the phone.
2. Install the appPick the folders to keep. The app reads what is in each photo and keeps your index up to date as new ones arrive.
3. Add your storageAn S3 bucket or a WebDAV folder. Backups start, and your library opens on any phone and here on the web.
